Australia captain Steve Smith has revealed that India skipper Virat Kohli barred his team-mates from having a beer with the Baggy Greens after their four-Test series concluded in Dharamsala on Tuesday.
Smith had offered to bury the hatchet following a hostile series and Ajinkya Rahane, who stood in as captain since Kohli was nursing a shoulder injury, was more than happy to oblige.
Revealing what he said to Rahane, who will play alongside him as part of the Rising Pune Supergiants at the Indian Premier League (IPL), Smith told ABC Grandstand: “I said see you next week, he’s in my team for the IPL.
“I asked if he wanted us to come in for a drink being at the end of the series. He said he’d get back to me. With Ajinkya, we get on well. He’s in my IPL team so I’ll be with him for the next few weeks.”
However, just as relations between the two sides seemed to be on the mend, Kohli turned things frosty once again by forbidding his team from having a beer with the Australians.
