Bangladesh have called up off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, which begins on Saturday in Dambulla.
This is the first time Mehedi has been drafted into the limited overs side as his entire international career thus far has revolved around Test cricket.
The decision to include the 19-year-old in the ODI team stems from his superb performance in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, where he scored 95 runs at an average of 31.66 and took 10 wickets at an average of 35.10.
Mehedi had travelled back to Dhaka with the other Test players that hadn’t been picked in the ODI squad, but he returned to Colombo on Thursday.
In regards to his List A career, Mehedi has featured in 27 matches and scored 481 runs, which includes two half-centuries, at an average of 20.04. He has also claimed 27 wickets at an average of 29.14.
