South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris will head back home from New Zealand as the Proteas have decided to reduce the number of pace bowlers they have.

With spinner Dane Piedt being called up for the third Test in Hamilton on March 25, Morris was deemed a surplus bowler and will now return to South Africa.

Morris will now have to wait until South Africa’s tour of England in July to add to his two Test caps.

Despite the departure of Morris, the Proteas have two reserve seamers in Wayne Parnell and Duanne Olivier should anything happen to their pace attack, which currently consists of Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel.
