The Gujarat Lions have appointed former India batsman Mohammad Kaif as their assistant coach for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kaif will work closely with head coach Brad Hodge to build on the Lions’ strong debut season last year, where they finished atop the table, but failed to win both of their qualifiers, which saw them miss out on a place in the final.
Nonetheless, Kaif, who played for the Rajastan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, will be aiming to help the Lions go one step further in this year’s tournament.
The 2017 IPL begins on April 5, while the player auction will be held on February 20.
