Henriques was named Man of the Match for his knock of 64 and his superb striking in the Super Over

Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques led by example with a brilliant 64 before going on to star in the Super Over to lead his side to victory over the Brisbane Heat and into the Big Bash League (BBL) final.

Choosing to bowl first, the Sixers struck twice early on as Sean Abbott and Nathan Lyon removed wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson and Sam Heazlett for 19 and a duck respectively.

Heat skipper Brendon McCullum and Alex Ross stabilised the innings with a 53-run partnership before McCullum was dismissed for a 27-ball 46.

The Heat began to crumble after McCullum’s dismissal, but Marnus Labuschagne and Jack Wildermuth stemmed the flow of wickets with a 51-run stand.

Both of them were dismissed soon after that and the Heat ended up finishing on 167/9 off their 20 overs.

Abbott and Lyon picked up four wickets apiece, while Ben Dwarshuis chipped in with one.

Chasing 168 to win, the Sixers got off to a similar start as they were dealt two quick blows early on.

Like the Heat, they also recovered as Daniel Hughes and Henriques amassed a 99-run partnership, during which Henriques sailed past his fifty.

Mark Steketee provided the breakthrough for the Heat as he sent Hughes packing for 46 before Michael Lumb fell shortly after.

Henriques went on to score 64 off 34 balls, which included five boundaries and three sixes, before he was dismissed by Steketee.

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin and Abbott made seven and two respectively and all of a sudden, the Sixers found themselves needing six runs off the final over.

Only two runs were possible from the first three balls before disaster struck for the Sixers as Johan Botha was caught behind off the bowling of Ben Cutting for 16.

A leg-bye earned them another precious run, but it left them needing three to win off the last ball.

Dwarshuis, though, could only get two and as a result, a Super Over was needed to determine a winner.

Batting first, the Sixers scored 22 runs off their six balls largely due to Henriques. In reply, the Heat only managed to make 15 runs off their six deliveries, which led to the Sixers advancing to the final, where they will take on the Perth Scorchers.

Steketee was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Cutting, Wildermuth, Joe Burns, Samuel Badree and Mitchell Swepson claimed one wicket each.

Henriques was named Man of the Match.
