Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews, pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep and batsman Danushka Gunathilaka will all be heading back home from the ongoing tour of South Africa due to injuries.
Mathews injured his hamstring in the second Twenty20 International in Johannesburg, but managed to get his side across the finish line with an unbeaten 54. Regardless of the injury, he had made arrangements to return back to Sri Lanka on “personal grounds”.
Pradeep injured his hand in the first Twenty20 International in Centurion, which the Proteas won by 19 runs, while Gunathilaka has been nursing a back injury.
With the trio out, Dinesh Chandimal will lead Sri Lanka in the third and final Twenty20 International in Cape Town on Wednesday.
