The one-off Test between India and Bangladesh has been pushed back by a day, meaning that it will now start on February 9 in Hyderabad.

The match was originally scheduled to start on February 8 and run from Wednesday to Sunday, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to make a late change to the schedule.

“The Test was originally meant to start on a Wednesday. So we thought it would be better on all fronts if it starts on a Thursday and we could get crowds in for the Test,” a BCCI official said.

Bangladesh are currently involved in a two-Test series in New Zealand and will return home on January 26. Following a short break, they will travel to India on February 1 and play a warm-up game against India A on February 3 in Hyderabad. However, the match will not be played at the same venue as the one-off Test match.

Bangladesh have toured India on four occasions – in 1990, 1998, 2006 and 2016 – but this will mark the first time they will play Test cricket in the country.
