New Zealand batsman Neil Broom has been ruled out of the last two Twenty20 Internationals against Bangladesh after sustaining a fractured finger.
Broom fractured the index finger on his left hand while fielding during the first Twenty20 International in Napier on Tuesday and is expected to be out of action for seven to 10 days.
The 33-year-old has been in superb form as of late as in the recent three-match ODI series against the same opposition, he made scores of 22, 109 not out, which marked his maiden ODI century, and 97.
With Broom out, New Zealand have called up George Worker as his replacement. However, should Worker not feature in the second Twenty20 International in Mount Maunganui on Friday, he will be released to represent the Central Stags in the McDonald’s Super Smash final the following day.
Veteran batsman Ross Taylor was touted as a possible replacement, but he is currently recovering from a minor side strain. Nonetheless, he is expected to be fit for the two-Test series that begins on January 12 in Wellington.
