The Brisbane Heat will be without West Indian spinner Samuel Badree for the next two weeks after he sustained a hamstring injury.

Badree, who is the top-ranked bowler on the Big Bash League (BBL) rankings, suffered the injury during his side’s loss to the Sydney Sixers on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old underwent scans, which revealed a grade one hamstring strain, and he will subsequently miss the Heat’s next two games, both of which are the Perth Scorchers, with the first being on Thursday and the second next Wednesday.

“It’s at the lesser end of the scale so we will work now on getting Samuel strong and ready to play again in the back end of the tournament,” Heat physiotherapist Martin Love said.

Even though the Heat are confident that Badree will be fit towards the latter part of the tournament, head coach Daniel Vettori confirmed that the franchise are looking for a replacement player to cover Badree’s absence.

“We are down the track in terms of identifying a player who will be available for us and will progress that as promptly as we can,” Vettori said.
