Australia opening batsman David Warner has revealed that he dedicates every run he scores in international cricket to Phillip Hughes.

Hughes tragically passed away in November 2014 after he was struck on the side of the neck while playing in a Sheffield Shield game.

Upon coming out to bat on the opening day of the ongoing third Test against Pakistan in Sydney, Warner was seen placing his hand on the plaque erected outside the Australian dressing room in Hughes’ honour.

Warner smashed a superb hundred in the first session and subsequently etched his name into the record books for a number of different reasons.

Speaking about Hughes, Warner was quoted by news.com.au as saying: “Before every time I walk out here we’ve got our little mate walking with us and always in the back of my mind when I walk out here, he’s with me.

“I always think he’s at the other end with me. Every time I score runs here or score a hundred, it’s always for him.”
