The Sydney Thunder have signed England batsman James Vince as a replacement for his compatriot Eoin Morgan.

Morgan will play his final Big Bash League (BBL) game on Wednesday against the Melbourne Stars before travelling to India to captain England in their limited overs series, which begins on January 15.

Vince has already arrived in Sydney and the 25-year-old, who has represented England in seven Tests, five ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals, will be available for selection for their clash with the Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday.

“I’ve watched the tournament back home over the past two or three years,” Vince said. “I spoke with Eoin about the possibility of playing out here when we were at the World T20 earlier last year and luckily I’ve gotten the opportunity.”

Morgan will not be the only English player departing from the BBL this week as Sydney Sixers batsmen Jason Roy and Sam Billings, Perth Scorchers all-rounder David Willey and Adelaide Strikers pace bowler Chris Jordan have also been picked for the limited overs tour of India.
