Brisbane Heat batsman Chris Lynn and captain Brendon McCullum smashed 84 not out and 72 respectively to help their side demolish the Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets.
Choosing to bowl first, the Heat got an early breakthrough as Mark Steketee dismissed Hurricanes captain Tim Paine for just nine runs.
Just when the Hurricanes were beginning to get things back in order, Kumar Sangakkara, D’Arcy Short and George Bailey were removed in quick succession for 12, 18 and 13 respectively.
Daniel Christian and Jonathan Wells stemmed the bleeding with a 60-run partnership before Wells fell to Jack Wildermuth for 28.
Wildermuth struck again the very next ball as he sent Christian packing for 33. Despite this, a quickfire 17 from Hamish Kingston and Clive Rose saw the Hurricanes finish on 173/9 off their 20 overs.
Steketee and Wildermuth picked up two wickets apiece, while Samuel Badree, Ben Cutting and Mitchell Swepson chipped in with one wicket each.
Chasing 174 to win, the Heat lost opening batsman Jimmy Peirson on the seventh ball of their innings as he was dismissed by Stuart Broad for just one run.
The early wicket did little to faze the Heat as McCullum and Lynn dispatched the Hurricanes’ bowling attack to all parts of the ground.
The pair ended up putting together a 109-run partnership, during which McCullum rocketed past his fifty, before he was dismissed by Cameron Boyce for 72, which came off 35 balls and included 10 boundaries and four sixes.

Even though Alex Ross fell shortly after, Lynn took over and guided the Heat to victory with 22 balls to spare. The 26-year-old ended up finishing on 84 not out, which came off 50 deliveries and included four boundaries and seven sixes.
Broad, Boyce and Shaun Tait claimed one wicket each.
Lynn was named Man of the Match.
