An all-round team performance by the Sydney Sixers saw them cruise to a six-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, the Scorchers didn’t get off to the best of starts as the returning Shaun Marsh fell early on for a disappointing eight runs.

Michael Klinger fell shortly after for 18, and the trend continues, but Ian Bell and wicketkeeper Sam Whiteman steadied things with a 43-run stand before Whiteman was removed by Sean Abbott for 28.

The Scorchers continued to fall apart as David Willey, Bell, skipper Adam Voges, Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar fell in quick succession, which left the team in serious trouble at 107/8.

However, thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s quickfire 31 not out, the Scorchers managed to finish on 130/8 off their 20 overs.

Abbott and William Somerville picked up two wickets apiece, while Johan Botha, Steve O’Keefe, Doug Bollinger and Ben Dwarshuis chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 131 to win, the Sixers made a brisk start to their innings, but they were unable to maintain their momentum as Brad Haddin was sent packing by Andrew Tye for seven runs.

Sam Billings, who took the attack to the Scorchers right from the get-go, went on to make 40 runs before he was dismissed by Marsh.

Even though captain Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk fell not long after, the Sixers still went on to reach their target with two overs to spare courtesy of an unbeaten 30 by Botha.

Tye was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Marsh claimed one.

Botha was named Man of the Match.
