Former Australia batsman Michael Hussey has revealed that he would be uncomfortable if ex-Pakistan captain Salman Butt were to make his international comeback.

Butt has enjoyed a lot of success in the domestic competitions in Pakistan, but his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal in England that saw him banned for five years has left a negative aura around his reputation.

Furthermore, Hussey pointed out that with Butt being the ringleader in the spot-fixing incident that rocked the cricketing community, he has less sympathy for him in comparison to left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir, who was also suspended for five years for his role in the scandal.

“If I am being honest, it doesn’t sit well with me,” Hussey told Fox Sports TV. “Some would argue he has done his time and been allowed back in, much like Mohammad Amir.

“But you’ve got to remember Amir was a 17-year-old kid being directed by Salman Butt to do the wrong thing. I have a bit more sympathy for Amir.

“But Salman Butt, it doesn’t sit well to have him back in international cricket.”

Butt recently opened up about his desire to represent Pakistan again, but it remains to be seen how his team-mates and the rest of the cricketing world will react if his dream becomes a reality.
