Former Australia pace bowler Jason Gillespie has been touted as the country’s head coach or chairman of selectors, but has he received any news on the latter?

According to the ex-Yorkshire coach, he has yet to hear anything from Cricket Australia about the position, which is being temporarily filled by Trevor Hohns after Rod Marsh resigned during Australia’s home series against South Africa last month.

“I have been linked to everything in world cricket of late, but nothing at all,” Gillespie said on Thursday.

The 41-year-old will have to cast the thought of the selection job from his mind for the moment though as he will be coaching the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL), which starts next Tuesday.

The Strikers have already been dealt a major blow ahead of the tournament as spinner Jon Holland is set to miss the entire event due to a heel injury.

“We’re gutted for him,” Gillespie said. “He’s a quality bowler and a great guy to have around so to lose him, we’re disappointed for him first and foremost.”

The Strikers will begin their BBL campaign on December 21 against the Brisbane Heat.
