Flamboyant West Indies opener Chris Gayle has admitted that he is not at all surprised by Virat Kohli’s success in the ongoing Test series against England.
The Indian captain has been in red-hot form throughout the series as in the fourth Tests that have taken place thus far, he has accumulated 640 runs, which includes a double century, a hundred and two fifties, at an average of 128. Furthermore, in the fourth Test in Mumbai, which concluded on Monday, Kohli made a career-best 235.
Having seen Kohli play firsthand during his time with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gayle knows that there is more to come from the 28-year-old.
“Virat is a fantastic batsman we all know that… what he has done is not surprising at all,” Gayle told PTI on Monday. “There will be many more to come for sure.”
Having triumphed in the fourth Test, India now hold an unassailable 3-0 lead going into the fifth and final Test in Chennai, which begins on Friday.
