India all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be out of action for at least six weeks after being diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right shoulder.

Pandya sustained the injury after being struck on the shoulder while batting in the nets during the third Test between India and England in Mohali.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the 23-year-old, who was released from the Test squad two days ago, will feature in the ODI series against England, which starts on January 15.

“BCCI medical team confirms that India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has sustained a hairline fracture on his right shoulder,” a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said. “He will take minimum six weeks to recover from this injury. BCCI medical team will monitor his progress and rehabilitation programme and update accordingly.”

Pandya was called up to the Test squad for the first time in his career following an impressive showing in the recent ODI series against New Zealand, where he scored 45 runs in four matches at an average of 22.50 and took four wickets at an average of 35.25.
