Australia batsman Shaun Marsh has been ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka after breaking his finger.

Marsh, who will head back home, suffered a broken left little finger while fielding during his side’s two-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third ODI in Dambulla on Sunday.

“Shaun suffered an injury to his left little finger whilst fielding in the match yesterday,” Australia physiotherapist David Beakley said. “An x-ray after the match confirmed a fracture and Shaun will now return to Perth to allow time for this to heal.”

Marsh is the latest Australian player to return home as captain Steven Smith and all-rounder Mitchell Marsh left Sri Lanka earlier on in order to rest up for the busy summer. Pace bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile also flew back home after being diagnosed with a lumbar bone stress injury.
