Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal fractured the little finger of his left hand while fielding during a team practice in Mirpur on Saturday.
Iqbal underwent an x-ray, which confirmed the injury, and is likely to be out of action for two to three weeks, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury.
“He has fractured his finger during catching practice,” Chowdhury said. “The good thing is that the fracture did not spread and is in one place. We are hopeful for him to recover within two to three weeks.”
Iqbal is now in a race against time to become fully fit as Bangladesh will play their first-ever bilateral ODI series against Afghanistan in September. Following that, they will take on England in October.
