Sri Lanka seamer Shaminda Eranga has been prohibited from bowling in international matches after his action was found to be illegal.
Eranga, who received the news the same day he was admitted to hospital with an elevated heartbeat, was reported for a suspect action during the second Test against England in Durham and subsequently had his action tested at Loughborough on June 6.
The results showed that in every single one of his deliveries, his elbow surpassed the permitted 15 degrees of flex.
Eranga will now have to modify his action and get it re-tested and cleared at an ICC-accredited testing centre before he can make his international comeback.
The news is a massive blow for Sri Lanka as they have already lost pace bowlers Dhammika Prasad and Dushmantha Chameera to shoulder and back injuries respectively.
