Munro is back on New Zealand’s list of centrally contracted players

Batsman Colin Munro and spinner Ish Sodhi have returned to the list of New Zealand’s centrally contracted players for the 2016/17 season.
Munro established himself as a force to be reckoned with when he hammered the second-fastest half-century in Twenty20 International history off just 14 balls against Sri Lanka in January this year.
Sodhi, meanwhile, has been in tremendous form with the ball in Twenty20 Internationals over the past year as he has taken 14 wickets in eight matches at an incredible average of 13.92.
Besides Munro and Sodhi, batsman Henry Nichols and all-rounder George Worker made their first appearance on the list of centrally contracted players.
Meanwhile, Brendon and Nathan McCullum were taken off the list as they both retired from international cricket. All-rounder Grant Elliott suffered the same fate as he only plays Twenty20 Internationals after having retired from ODI cricket in April.
“We’ve built a strong group of core players over the past couple of years and that’s been a key factor to the consistency of the team’s performance,” New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen said. “When we’ve brought new players into the group, we’ve been really happy with how they’ve adapted and performed on the international stage. Henry and George have made bright starts to their careers and we look forward to watching their ongoing development.
“After missing out last year, Ish and Colin have both worked extremely hard on their game, as we saw with their performances for us in the shorter formats this summer. They thoroughly deserve their contracts. It’s also exciting to see Ish make his way back into the Test squad for the upcoming series in Africa.”
