Sri Lanka have been dealt another major blow after it was confirmed that pace bowler Dushmantha Chameera has ruled out for the rest of the England tour due to a stress fracture to his lower back.

Chameera underwent scans on Tuesday morning and is set to be out of action for four month. As a result, he will return to Sri Lanka to be treated.

In the first Test against England at Headingley, which the hosts won by an innings and 88 runs, Chameera dismissed Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad and Jonny Bairstow.

Chameera’s injury comes after Sri Lanka lost pace spearhead Dhammika Prasad to a shoulder injury, which he sustained during a warm-up game against Essex.

With Chameera set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, he is also likely to miss Sri Lanka’s home series against Australia in July.
