The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that they have waived the $41.97 million penalty they imposed on the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The penalty came about after the West Indies abandoned their tour of India mid-way through in October 2014 due to a financial dispute with the WICB and West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA), which ended up costing the BCCI a large amount of money.

However, BCCI president Shashank Manohar has confirmed that the West Indies will return to India in 2017 and complete the remaining matches.

“That is now sorted out because they are going to come back and play here next year,” Manohar told ESPNcricinfo. “They have to complete those [unfinished] games. That was a claim raised by the board. [We] would be satisfied by them coming and playing here.”

During their tour of India in October 2014, the West Indies ended their tour after the fourth ODI in Dharamsala. However, the tour was supposed to consist of five ODIs, a one-off Twenty20 International and three Tests.
