Gemini Arabians captain Virender Sehwag was at his very best against the Sagittarius Strikers as he walloped a sparkling 134 to lead his side to a 12-run win.
Sehwag was well supported by Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 51.
However, Strikers batsman Imran Farhat deserves some credit as he made a valiant 51.
Sehwag would have been thrilled with his decision to bat first as he nearly dominated the innings from start to finish. The former India opener was too much for the Strikers’ bowling attack to handle and he subsequently went on to make 134 off 63 balls, which included 10 boundaries and 11 sixes.
Sangakkara also played a vital part in the Arabians’ innings as he made 51 off 33 deliveries, which included five boundaries and two sixes.

Even though Krishmar Santokie removed four of the Arabians’ batsmen in consecutive deliveries in the final over, the Arabians still ended up making 224/7 off their 20 overs.
Santokie was easily the pick of the bowlers with five wickets, while Yasir Arafat snapped up one.

Chasing 225 to win, Yasir Hameed and Arafat both put up valiant efforts as they scored 41 and 32 respectively. However, it was Farhat who had the biggest impact during the Strikers’ innings as he smashed 51 off 32 balls, which included six boundaries and two sixes.

Despite Farhat, Hameed and Arafat’s gutsy performances, the Strikers ended up falling short of their target.
Muttiah Muralitharan was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Kyle Mills took two wickets and Justin Kemp, Paul Harris and Saqlain Mushtaq claimed one wicket each.
Sehwag was named Man of the Match.
