Sagittarius Strikers pace bowler Shane Bond took three wickets and opening batsman Mahela Jayawardene hammered a brilliant 69 to lead their side to a 26-run win over the Virgo Super Kings.
Strikers captain Adam Gilchrist would have been content with his decision to bat first as Jayawardene took the attack to the Super Kings right from the get-go and ended up making 69 off 47 balls, which included seven boundaries and three sixes.

With Michael Carberry and Jonathan Trott chipping in with scores of 27 and 22 respectively, the Strikers finished on 157/6 off their 20 overs.
Brett Lee was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Azhar Mahmood, Jacob Oram and Gareth Batty chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing 158 to win, Mahmood was the only batsman to make a major contribution as he smashed 51 off 31 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes.

With Lee being the only other batsman to surpass the 20-run mark, the Super Kings fell well short of their target as they were restricted to 131/9 off their 20 overs.
Bond and Daniel Vettori took three wickets apiece, while Krishmar Santokie, Yasir Arafat and Nathan Hauritz claimed one wicket each.
Bond was named Man of the Match.
