Rishi Dhawan has been named as pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s replacement for the upcoming Twenty20 series against Australia after the latter fractured his left thumb.
Kumar injured his thumb when attempting to stop a straight drive hit back at him by Australia opening batsman David Warner in the fourth ODI in Canberra. He subsequently missed the fifth and final ODI in Sydney.
Meanwhile, Gurkeerat Singh has been called up as cover for batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who split his webbing while fielding during the fourth ODI.
The three-match Twenty20 series gets underway on Tuesday in Adelaide.
