Zimbabwe batsman Malcolm Waller smashed a magnificent 49 to not only lead his side to a 31-run win over Bangladesh, but also reduce the series deficit to 2-1.

Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura would have been content with his decision to bat first even though Waller and Vusi Sibanda were the only two batsmen to make major contributions.

Waller smashed 49 off 23 balls, which included two boundaries and four sixes, while Sibanda made 44 off 33 deliveries, which included six boundaries and a six.

Thanks to small, but crucial, contributions from the rest of the top and middle order, Zimbabwe finished on 187/6 off their 20 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Abu Hider snapped up two and Mohammad Shahid chipped in with one.

Chasing 188 to win, Sabbir Rahman was the only batsman to have an impact for Bangladesh as he hammered 50 off 32 balls, which included nine boundaries.

Besides Rahman, wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan and opening batsman Soumya Sarkar were the only other batsmen to surpass the 20-run mark. As a result, Bangladesh fell well short of their target as they were restricted to 156/6 off their 20 overs.

Graeme Cremer was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Sikandar Raza took two and Tendai Chisoro claimed one.

Waller was named Man of the Match.
