Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming will coach the new Pune franchise for the next two editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Fleming previously coached the Chennai Super Kings, but they and the Rajasthan Royals were banned for two years by the Lodha Committee as a result of the IPL corruption scandal in 2013.

“He [Fleming] has been remarkably successful as a player in the international arena and I firmly believe that his technical knowhow, perseverance and organisation skills will work wonders for our team,” Sanjeev Goenka, head of New Rising group, who now own the franchise, said in a media statement.

The 2016 IPL will be held from April 9 to May 26.
