Pakistan left-arm seamer is all set to make his international comeback after he was granted his New Zealand visa.

Amir was selected in both the ODI and Twenty20 squads for the upcoming limited overs series and he is on track to play his first game for Pakistan since he was indicted in a spot-fixing scandal during a Test match against England at Lord’s in 2010.

There were initially doubts whether Amir would be granted a visa as he served time in a young offenders institute as a result of the spot-fixing scandal. But, Pakistan were given a major boost when he was approved for a visa.

“Immigration New Zealand can confirm that a visitor visa has been approved for Mohammad Amir to travel as part of the Pakistan Cricket Team set to tour New Zealand this month,” Michael Carley, INZ area manager, told stuff.co.nz. “In making this decision, INZ considered factors including the support of the New Zealand and Pakistan Cricket Board and that Mr Amir had served his sentence for his previous actions.”

Carley added that Amir’s visa had been granted due to his purpose of visit to New Zealand.

“Taking into account all the circumstances and with full understanding of the purpose of his visit, a visa has been approved for Mr Amir,” he said.
