Melbourne Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell smashed an unbeaten 56 and opener Luke Wright hammered 51 not out to lead their side to a comfortable eight-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes.
Stars captain David Hussey would have been thrilled with his decision to bat first as none of the Hurricanes’ batsmen, with the exception of George Bailey made a major contribution.
Bailey blasted a quickfire 55, which came off 40 balls and included three boundaries and two sixes, while Jonathan Wells was the only other batsman to surpass the 20-run mark. As a result, the Hurricanes were bowled out for 124.

Scott Boland and Adam Zampa picked up two wickets apiece, while Maxwell, John Hastings and Michael Beer chipped in with one wicket each.
Chasing 125 to win, the Stars lost Marcus Stoinis and Kevin Pietersen early on before Maxwell and Wright finished things off with an unbeaten 99-run partnership, during which both batsmen brought up their half-centuries.
Maxwell finished on 56 off 32 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes, while Wright remained undefeated on 51 off 41 deliveries, which included five boundaries and a six.
