Gayle denies the allegations made against him by Fairfax Media

West Indies opener Chris Gayle has rubbished allegations that he indecently exposed himself to a woman in Sydney during the 2015 World Cup.

The fresh rumours about Gayle were reported by Fairfax Media and come just a couple days after he was fined $10,000 for the remarks he made during a live television interview with Ten Network reporter Mel McLaughlin during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), in which he is representing the Melbourne Renegades.

However, Gayle’s agent Simon Auteri made it clear that the 36-year-old had done no such thing and added that legal action may be taken against Fairfax Media.

“Chris denies the allegations published by Fairfax Media earlier today,” Auteri said in a statement. “It is important that anyone seeking to make false accusations against Chris be aware that Chris and his management will be considering all rights and legal options available. There will be no further comment from Chris or his management at this stage.”

Speaking about the fresh accusations against Gayle, Renegades chief executive Stuart Coventry branded allegations as “opportunistic”.

However, Cricket Australia were reportedly infuriated with Coventry’s comments and Cricket Victoria chief executive Tony Dodemaide later released a statement, which said: “Cricket Victoria and its BBL teams are committed to demonstrating that our sport respects girls and women and we’re working incredibly hard to ensure that is the case.

“We certainly don’t condone the reported comments attributed to Stuart this morning and we’re looking into it further.”
