The West Indies cut their tour of India short in October last year

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have confirmed that India will tour the Caribbean next year after they decided to lift the suspension placed on bilateral tours with the West Indies.

The BCCI decided to revoke the sanction due to the West Indies agreeing to complete last year’s abandoned tour of India. The tour was supposed to consist of five ODIs, a Twenty20 International and three Tests, but the West Indies pulled out after the fourth ODI.

The West Indies cut their tour of India short due to the players not being satisfied by the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) and West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) inability to answer their questions about the memorandum of understanding and collective bargaining agreement both parties signed in September 2014.

“West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President, Dave Cameron, today (December 23) confirmed that following discussions with BCCI President, Shashank Manohar, the West Indies will host India in the Caribbean in 2016,” a WICB media statement said. “This agreement is subject to the WICB and the Players Association giving a joint commitment to complete, at a later date, the tour which prematurely ended in October 2014.”
