Zimbabwe all-rounder Sean Williams will miss the upcoming limited overs series against Afghanistan due to bursitis in the groin.
Williams, who will be sidelined for two weeks, has been replaced by Tendai Chisoro and Wellington Masakadza in the ODI and Twenty20 squads respectively.
According to a release from Zimbabwe Cricket, Williams felt pain in his groin during Ireland’s tour of Zimbabwe in October. The 29-year-old had an MRI scan last week, which revealed the injury and Zimbabwe physiotherapist Anesu Mupotaringa confirmed that fluid would have to be drained from the inflamed area.
Zimbabwe will play five ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals against Afghanistan, all of which will be held in Sharjah.
