West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has etched his name in the Twenty20 record books by becoming the first player to hit 600 sixes in Twenty20 cricket.
Gayle achieved the feat when he smashed two sixes while playing for the Melbourne Renegades in their Big Bash League (BBL) match against the Brisbane Heat on Saturday.
On the list of most sixes hit in Twenty20 matches, Gayle is well ahead of compatriot Kieron Pollard, who occupies second place with 388 sixes next to his name. New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is in third with 290, while Dwayne Smith and David Warner round off the top five.
