Sri Lanka pace bowler Nuwan Kulasekara has been called up as fellow seamer Dhammika Prasad’s replacement for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

Prasad was ruled out of the entire ongoing series as he suffered a back injury while playing a  tour game against New Zealand’s Board President’s XI in Queenstown.

Vishwa Fernando, who has yet to be capped, took Prasad’s spot on the Test roster, but the national selectors opted to call up Kulasekara for the ODI series.

Sri Lanka have also decided to keep batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage as he will replace Kusal Perera, who tested positive for a banned substance.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are also keeping a close eye on pace bowler Lasith Malinga, who is currently nursing a knee injury. Should Malinga fail to pass a fitness test prior to the ODI series, all-rounder Thisara Perera will take his place in the squad.
