Amir could make his international comeback in January

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has revealed that left-arm pace bowler Mohammad Amir could make his international comeback against New Zealand in January.

However, Khan made it clear that Amir, who was banned for five years for being involved in a spot-fixing scandal in 2010, would not be picked if the proposed series between India and Pakistan goes ahead as planned.

“No he is not under consideration for the planned series against India as they are still things we would like to first discuss with him and sort out before allowing him back into the national side,” Khan said. “Yes, we are looking at a him for this [New Zealand] series and he could return to the national side on the tour.”

Khan admitted that he has been impressed with Amir’s performance in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and added that he has asked the country’s senior players to provide feedback on Amir’s attitude and behaviour.

The 23-year-old is representing the Chittagong Vikings in the BPL and has taken 14 wickets at an impressive average of 12.64.

“We are getting feedback from them on his behavior and attitude and how he is doing. But it wouldn’t be right to say we will base our decision on his comeback on this feedback,” Khan said.
