Bangladesh pace bowler Shahadat Hossain has been granted bail by the country’s High Court after filing a petition.
Hossain was granted bail by the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain, while his wife was granted bail on December 1.
On September 7, Hossain and his wife were charged under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act for allegedly assaulting their housemaid. Less than a week later, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended Hossain.
Hossain had been on the run after being charged, but he ended up surrendering himself to the court of Metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Hossain on October 5. He was arrested on the same day and sent back to jail on October 13 after a three-day remand.
