Neither Australia nor New Zealand were able to gain the upper hand on the first day of the first-ever day-night Test in Adelaide.
New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum would have been mulling over his decision to bat first as none of the batsmen, with the exception of opener Tom Latham, were able to make a valuable contribution.
Latham set a solid foundation after his opening partner Martin Guptill was dismissed early on as he scored 50 off 103 balls, which included seven boundaries.

But, once Latham was caught behind off the bowling of Nathan Lyon, New Zealand started to lose wickets at regular intervals and were ultimately skittled out for a disappointing 202.
Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood picked up three wickets apiece, while Lyon and Peter Siddle chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Trailing by 202 runs, Australia lost David Warner for just one run before his opening partner Joe Burns was clean bowled by Doug Bracewell for 14.
Australia captain Steven Smith and Adam Voges ensured the Baggy Greens did not lose any more wickets as they put together an unbeaten 20-run partnership before stumps was called.
Smith finished on 24 off 48 balls, which included three boundaries, while Voges remained undefeated on nine off 32 deliveries, which included one boundary.
Bracewell and Trent Boult claimed one wicket each.
Australia ended day one on 54/2 and will continue batting tomorrow at 14:00 local time or 03:30 GMT.
