New Zealand left-arm pace bowler Trent Boult is set to feature in the third Test against Australia in Adelaide even though he did not bowl in his side’s warm-up match against a Western Australia XI in Perth.
Both sides agreed to bat one day each, but Boult, who suffered a stress-related injury to his back earlier this year, did not bowl a single over during Western Australia XI’s innings.
However, New Zealand bowling coach Dimitri Mascarenhas is confident that Boult will represent New Zealand in the first-ever day-night Test match.
“We’ll assess him over the next couple of days and he’s on track to be fit for the third Test,” Mascarenhas said. “He’s going okay as far as I know.”
But, should Boult be ruled out of the third Test against Australia, it is likely that he will be replaced by Neil Wagner as the left-arm seamer recorded figures of 5-62 against Western Australia XI.
