England spinner Adil Rashid will represent the Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).
Rashid was allowed to participate in the tournament after he was not included in England’s Test team for their upcoming tour of South Africa.
With Jason Gillespie having worked with Rashid as head coach of Yorkshire, the former Australia pace bowler, who holds the same position with the Strikers, is confident that the 27-year-old will be a major asset throughout the BBL.
“As soon as we identified that we needed another spin option for this summer, Adil was one of the first names that came to mind,” Gillespie said. “He is one of the most exciting emerging spinners on the international stage and I have watched him improve and mature year on year.
“I feel he is the perfect fit for the team and it is exciting to have him on board.”
