Wood will miss the tour of South Africa, according to reports

England’s pace duo of Mark Wood and Steven Finn have both been ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa, according to reports.

Wood is still nursing the chronic ankle injury that saw him miss the third Test against Pakistan in Sharjah, while Finn has failed to sufficiently recover from the bone stress injury to his left foot.

All-rounder Ben Stokes is set to be included in the squad despite suffering a collar-bone joint injury during the third Test.

It is also likely that England may give Alex Hales an opportunity to open the batting with captain Alastair Cook after Moeen Ali failed to impress as he only scored 84 runs at a dismal average of 14.

England will name their squad for the tour of South Africa on Thursday morning.
