Imrul Kayes scored 76 as Bangladesh cruised past Zimbabwe by 58 runs in the second ODI in Mirpur and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
After Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first, Kayes was the only batsman to major impact with the bat, but he was well supported by Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman, who scored 41 and 33 respectively.
It was thanks to Kayes’ 76, which came off 89 balls and included six boundaries and four sixes, that Bangladesh were able to score 241/9 off their 50 overs.
Tinashe Panyangara was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Taurai Muzarabani and Graeme Cremer snapped up two wickets apiece and Luke Jongwe and Sean Williams chipped in with one wicket each.
Chasing 242 to win, only skipper Elton Chigumbura and Sikandar Raza made decent contributions with the bat as they scored 47 and 33 respectively.
With Craig Ervine being the only other batsman to surpass the 20-run mark, it came as no surprise when Zimbabwe were bundled out for 183.
Mustafizur Rahman was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Nasir Hossain and Al-Amin Hossain took two wickets apiece and captain Mashrafe Mortaza and Arafat Sunny claimed one wicket each.
Kayes was named Man of the Match.
