Legendary Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara will be one of the players on offer in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft after he signed up to play in the tournament.

Sangakkara has also registered to play in the Masters Champions League (MCL), which is expected to run at the same time as the PSL, but in different venues across the United Arab Emirates.

“Sangakkara is a world-class sportsman and we are excited to welcome him on board,” Najam Sethi, the head of PSL, told reporters. “He brings a wealth of experience to the PSL. His inclusion makes the player draft even more exciting.”

The inaugural edition of the PSL will feature five franchises – Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad – who will all be vying for a grand prize of $1 million. The tournament will consist of 24 matches and is scheduled to take place between February 4 to 24 in Dubai and Sharjah.

As of now, more than a 100 players, including Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen and Shakib Al Hasan, have signed up for the competition and will be part of the draft, which is set to be held in December.
