India spinner Amit Mishra has been charged for assaulting a woman, according to Bangalore police.

Sandeep Patil, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, central division, Bangalore, confirmed that a woman had filed a case of physical assault against Mishra. As a result, a notice has been sent to the leg-spinner to appear before the investigation officer.

The case has been filed under Indian Penal Codes 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).

Patil said that the woman claims she was attacked during an Indian team training camp in the last week of September.

“She has said that both of them had a quarrel and has alleged that he [Mishra] physically assaulted her and verbally abused her,” Patil told ESPNcricinfo.

Mishra is currently involved in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa and has also been included in the 16-man squad for the four-Test series, which starts on November 5.
