South Africa all-rounder Jean Paul (JP) Duminy will miss the last two ODIs against India after suffering a hand injury.

Duminy cut his hand during the third ODI in Rajkot on Sunday when a ball was hit back to him while he was bowling.

It is understood that Duminy will need approximately two to three weeks to recover as his injury is more serious that initially thought. It has also been confirmed that top-order batsman Dean Elgar will take his place in the ODI squad.

Duminy will now begin his road to recovery and is expected to be fully fit when the first Test gets underway in Mohali on November 5.

Elgar, who played all five of his ODIs in 2012, was called up for Duminy after impressing the national selectors with his performance in South Africa’s domestic one-day tournament, where he has made scores of 57 and 86 in the two innings he has batted in. Furthermore, his part-time left-arm spin has also come in handy.
