Afghanistan batsman Mohammad Nabi scored a career-best 116 to not only help his side beat Zimbabwe by 58 runs in the second ODI in Bulawayo, but also level the series at 1-1.

Nabi was well supported by opening batsman Noor Ali Zadran, who scored 60.

However, the duo were the only two batsmen to have an impact after captain Asghar Stanikzai chose to bat first.

Zadran gave Afghanistan a solid start with his innings of 60, which came off 99 balls and included five boundaries, before Nabi came in and continued to torment the Zimbabwe bowlers with his knock of 116 off 121 deliveries, which included three boundaries and six sixes.

Thanks to Nabi and Zadran, Afghanistan were able to post a score of 271/6 off their 50 overs.

Tinashe Panyangara and Tinotenda Mutombodzi picked up two wickets apiece, while Wellington Masakadza and Tendai Chisoro chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 272 to win, Zimbabwe were in trouble right from the get-go as many of their batsmen got off to encouraging starts, but were unable to convert them into bigger scores.

Luke Jongwe ended up being Zimbabwe’s highest-scorer with 46 runs, while Craig Ervine made a valiant 43 as the hosts came up short in their bid to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Aftab Alam, Dawlat Zadran and Samiullah Shenwari snapped up two wickets apiece, while Nabi, Amir Hamza and Rashid Khan claimed one wicket each.
