Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been named Afghanistan’s head coach for the national team’s upcoming tour of Zimbabwe.
However, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO Shafiq Stanikzai revealed that there is a possibility Inzamam will extend his contract by two years.
“[Inzamam’s tenure is] currently for the Zimbabwe tour and then we will be having a few meetings in Zimbabwe and after that we will be deciding, on mutual agreement, for the longer term,” Stanikzai told ESPNcricinfo.
For Afghanistan, securing the services of Inzamam will be a major relief as they have been without a head coach since opting not to renew Andy Moles’ contract in August.
