West Indies spinner Sunil Narine is set to make his international comeback after he was included in the ODI squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

Narine, whose last ODI came in August last year, opted to miss the 2015 World Cup as he was concerned about certain issues with his bowling action. However, after having undergone remedial work, the specialist spinner is all set to make his long-awaited return.

In a rather interesting move, the West Indies national selectors have opted to choose a young squad with only a handful of experienced players. They decided to drop Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Sulieman Benn, Sheldon Cottrell, Nikita Miller, Kemar Roach, and Dwayne Smith, while opening batsman Chris Gayle was not considered for selection as he is currently recovering from back surgery.

In place of the those who were omitted, the selectors chose Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Andre Fletcher, Jason Mohammed, Ravi Rampaul and Darren Bravo, who will be making his comeback after injuring his hamstring during the World Cup.

All-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were not selected even though suspended head coach Phil Simmons revealed that he and chief selector Clive Lloyd wanted to see them back in the ODI squad. However, their hopes of drafting the duo into the 50-over side did not come to fruition as they were outvoted 3-2 during the selection meeting.
