Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has signed up to play in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will be held in February next year.

Ever since England denied him the opportunity to make his international comeback after he was axed from the national team following the 2013-14 Ashes series in Australia, Pietersen has transformed himself into a Twenty20 specialist and plies his trade in domestic competitions all around the world.

While it is still unconfirmed where the tournament will be held, Pietersen is excited about playing in the first edition of the competition.

“Absolutely buzzing to be a part of the Pakistani mela (event) coming up in February. I can’t wait to get it started,” he said. “It looks like it is going to be a wonderful competition. Lots of fun, lots of sixes, lots of wickets, typical T20 stuff. I am really excited to be a part of this wonderful tournament.”

It is also understood that Chris Gayle, Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo, Luke Wright and Tim Bresnan have agreed to play in the PSL, which will run from February 4-24.
