England captain Eoin Morgan will play no further part against Australia in the fifth and final ODI in Manchester after suffering a thunderous blow to the side of the helmet, which led to him retiring hurt.

The incident, which occurred in the seventh over of the match, saw Morgan try and duck under the bouncer, which was clocked at just over 90 mph. However, the ball ended up striking him on the side of the helmet.

The England physiotherapist and doctor ran out to the middle immediately after being called out by the players, upon where they had a long discussion with Morgan before helping him off the field.

At the end of the over, Australia coach Darren Lehmann comforted Starc at the boundary line as the 25-year-old played in the Sheffield Shield match in which Phillip Hughes was struck on the helmet and later died from the injuries he suffered.
